Acting as a local resource for the pursuit of the visual arts, the Craven Arts Council and Gallery maintains rotating exhibitions of art relevant to the area and also runs a gift shop filled with crafts by regional artists. The council's main facility and galleries are located in the historic Bank of the Arts building, featuring a vaulted ceiling and dinner party seating for up to 60 guests. It is located in downtown New Bern, just east of the Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens.
